New Database Upload Procedure Adds Support For More Data Formats

By dan goldberg - September 25, 2008

The Texas A&M GeoServices site has a new database upload procedure in place that adds support for additional database formats. These new formats enable Miscrosoft Office 2007 support, as well as flat comma seperated value (CSV) and text delimited files.

Supported database formats

Database type File extension
Microsoft Access *.mdb
Microsoft Access 2007 *.accdb
Comma seperated values *.csv
Text delimited *.txt
In addition, the new procedure requires a database to be validated after it has been uploaded before it can be utilized in any of the Texas A&M GeoServices services. This extra step has been designed to ensure that your uploaded databases can be opened and read before you attempt to run the service, thereby making sure that your processes will run smoothly.

For complete details of the newly supported data fomats and improved upload process, please see the new documentation for the Database section of the site.
